Fifth Annual
Justice Is Served 2009
"Big Voices for Little Texans"

A record sized crowd turned out for the fifth annual “Justice Is Served” at the Multi-Purpose Complex in Bonham. Around three hundred people attended our annual fundraiser this year. Early estimates are that we raised about $35,000 to sustain our programs for children.

More than twenty local officials served up barbeque and drinks to the guests.   Two “honorable servers” traveled quite a distance to participate in the event. Chief Justice Josh Morriss of the Sixth District Court of Appeals traveled from Texarkana and U.S. Marshall Gary Brown came in from Frisco to participate as well.  Special guests included Joe Gagen, CEO of Texas CASA, and his wife Joanne, who traveled from Austin to attend the event.

“We were thrilled with the turnout and success of this event,” said Melanie Grammar, Board President and chairperson of the event. “We had a great response from people all over the county. The funds raised will help us continue to serve children from Fannin County who have been abused and neglected.”

Once again, Fannin County Sheriff Kenneth Moore was an “honorable server” and the auctioneer the live auction. Around two hundred silent auction items lined the room. Homemade cakes and goodies, gift baskets, jewelry, gift certificates, sports memorabilia and more were sold to the highest bidders. Many of the items were homemade or handcrafted by local supporters of the agency.

"We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible," said Melanie.  "Our board, staff, volunteers and other supporters really pulled together to make this our best event ever.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to sustain our main programs for kids: CASA and the Children’s Advocacy Center. CASA provides trained volunteer advocates for children in foster care.   The Children’s Advocacy Center provides forensic interviews, counseling, court accompaniment and other support services to children who have been abused.

Be sure to make plans to join us next year on September 11, 2010!
