April is Child Abuse Awareness Month
Fannin County Judge Derrell Hall signed a proclamation declaring April to be Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in Fannin County. Also present were some of the investigators, caseworkers, forensic interviewers, prosecutors, counselors, medical professionals, foster parents, CASA volunteers, victim advocates, court personnel, probation officers, Rainbow Room volunteers, Child Welfare board members, Fannin County Children's Center Board members and other professionals and volunteers who are involved in the effort to fight child abuse in Fannin County.
For the month of April, 99 children's shoes(pictured above and below) were on display in the Fannin County Courthouse as a reminder of the 99 children and youth who were victims of child abuse in their own homes, acccording to the Data Book of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
